I hadn't been to Alcatraz in several years. Molly had never been, so we took the Monday night tour. Very cool.

The city from the Rock. When the wind was blowing in the right direction, the prisoners could hear people celebrating - especially on New Year's Eve.

Dottie's True Blue Cafe

This place must be in all the tour books because usually there's a crazy line out the door and down the block, but Molly and I lucked out. I took Monday off and we started the day sharing a yummy spinach, corn and feta frittata. We sat at the counter and had a very colorful experience.


Watching the chef and his helper work together like a well-oiled machine was fascinating.

Halloween at the Hamilton

My neighbors gathered last night to carve pumpkins. Now, they're all displayed in the lobby of my building. I'll be giving out candy tomorrow night.

Yesterday, I used ZipCar for the first time. I also drove a hybrid for the first time. Am I going "green" or what??

Flat Stovetop

So, I've got this flat stovetop and I'm trying to reserve judgment as I really don't want to buy a new stove. I'm having a little trouble regulating the heat, but what's harder is you have to hold the pan still to stir it. I made sauteed shrimp with asparagus and rice last night and it was a bit of a hassle.
