My neighbors gathered last night to carve pumpkins. Now, they're all displayed in the lobby of my building. I'll be giving out candy tomorrow night.

ZipCar

Yesterday, I used ZipCar for the first time. I also drove a hybrid for the first time. Am I going "green" or what??

Flat Stovetop

So, I've got this flat stovetop and I'm trying to reserve judgment as I really don't want to buy a new stove. I'm having a little trouble regulating the heat, but what's harder is you have to hold the pan still to stir it. I made sauteed shrimp with asparagus and rice last night and it was a bit of a hassle.

Fly

After hours of working our butts off in my mouse-infested (!) storage unit, Beth and I enjoyed amazing salads at Fly. I'm thrilled there's one in my new 'hood. Who knew?

Press Club

No, not THAT kind of press club ... the wine kind. You know, pressing grapes and all that. What a cool place. Michelle and I checked it out last night. First, it's a huge space. Second, it's a wine bar. Need I say more? Third, cheese flights. Yum!

Midi

When my company's board meets here in SF, my colleagues and I get to try hip, new restaurants. Midi was no exception.


Great decor, great food, great service. I'll definitely be back.

My friends are going through a baby boom of sorts. I suppose that's what happens when you're "of a certain age."

My Brothers' Friends

Growing up, I didn't pay too much attention to my younger brothers' friends ... unless, of course, I needed participants for my plays or backyard Olympics.


Dale was one of those lucky kids. He and his wife are in SF for a few days and I met him for lunch.

How Did I Miss the Sign?

Perhaps it means I'm now truly a San Franciscan ... My beautiful apartment is on the same block as a pot club.

New Kitchen

I cooked my first real meal in my new kitchen last night. Pasta with olives and feta on a bed of arugula.


I'm not sure yet how I feel about the flat stove. It's hard to know how hot the burners are, but it sure is easy to clean!

Le Colonial

I forgot how much I love Le Colonial! Georgia came over to see the new place last night and reminded me it's in my new neighborhood! Woo hoo! Pinot noir and Vietnamese appetizers.

Cheese Curds

I brought cheese curds back to my dubious, non-Wisconsinite colleagues at work.
