As many of you know, I covered the story of Stanley Tookie Williams from 1998 until his execution in December 2005. His co-author and friend has finished a new documentary about Williams' death. I attended a screening here in SF on Sunday. If you're interested, check out her Web site here
I spent Father's Day weekend with someone else's father ... and mother and sister, for that matter. Beth's mom and dad remind me A LOT of my own parents.
Every morning, Gin and I step out our front door, cross the street and go for a stroll in one of the most beautiful parts of Golden Gate Park, the Fuchsia Dell. There are huge trees, trails and, of course, lots of fuchsia.
The other night I had a dream about John Grisham. We were introduced, I shook his hand and proclaimed that I had never been interested in his books because he was too popular. But, recently, I had read my first one and I'm now hooked. "You're not a bad writer," I said. "That's so nice of you to say," he replied.
These books are like crack. Not that I've smoked crack. You know what I mean.
Seeking maximum sun exposure, Georgia, Beth and I headed up to Tiburon yesterday and had lunch at the very hip Sam's Cafe. The clientele convinced us that we'd taken a wrong turn and somehow ended up in the Marina, but the bottle blonde bikini bimbettes and their - um - boyfriends made for great people watching.
I love my adopted city of San Francisco. I've lived here since 1998. When I'm not working, I love going out to hear live music, staying home to read a book (or three!) running, making dinner for friends and yoga. Guilty pleasures: America's Next Top Model, a ballpark hotdog with sauerkraut and drinking wine in my pajamas.
