Yes Man

I watched Yes Man with Jim Carrey last night and while it wasn't a great film, it explored an interesting theory. Can one improve one's quality of life by saying "yes" more often?

Mission Beach Cafe

I warned Linda that soon I won't be able to afford our decadent weekend brunches. But, in the meantime, we checked out Mission Beach Cafe.

I had a pomegranate mimosa.

And an egg sandwich made with a homemade English muffin. Messy, but oh-so-good.

Goodwill Trip #2

I asked myself all weekend, "How did I cram so much stuff that I never use into this tiny apartment?"

Ginger-snap

The Gin-meister is quite hard of hearing and she sleeps very deeply. This is how I found her this morning. Can you tell how she's sunken into the crack in the couch? Too cute.

Kung Fu Tacos

Admittedly, I was lured to this taco truck near my office by its name - Kung Fu Tacos.

What a culinary surprise! The veggie tacos at $2 each were filled with cabbage, mushrooms and a spectacular ginger sauce.

Done Deal

The documents have been signed, the checks have been written and, in seven days, I get the keys.

Thanks to Tanja for helping make the seemingly impossible - possible.

Pine Acres Resort

Pine Acres Resort in Upper Lake was definitely a highlight of the weekend.

The water was cold and refreshing.

And the place was old-fashioned and friendly.

Clearlake

Elizabeth, Beth, Jenny and I spent a relaxing weekend at a condo on Nice. Food, drink, fun and Scrabble! We spent Sunday afternoon swimming and sunning at Clearlake - CA's biggest lake. We also learned more than we wanted to know about mayflies.

Unicorn

Bad name. Good food. Pan-Asian fusion with a decidedly Vietnamese feel. Yum!

The ceiling over the bar was decorated with handblown glass bowls ala Chihuly.

Sugar

Do you ever feel like watching a movie that you just KNOW will be great? Rent Sugar. It's about a Dominican kid making his way to the big leagues. And you don't have to like baseball to appreciate it.

Packing

I've lived in my apartment for six years. It's only about 550 square feet, but it's amazing how much I've packed into that small space.

This was my first trip to Goodwill.

83 Proof

After work, I met Michelle and we checked out a new bar (well, new to us) called 83 Proof.

I should've taken a picture of my drink, a basil gimlet. Yum! It's the house specialty and it's a sugar cube and fresh lime juice muddled with fresh basil, then topped off with gin. It's shaken, strained and served in a martini glass.

Tiki Party

On my last night in town, Mike had a tiki/birthday/housewarming party in his beautiful backyard. He made yummy mojitos using fresh mint from Kristine's herb garden.

Random Milwaukee Shots

Brian and Shaelin.

Bowling ball sculpture.

Cheese "mall" with cheesehead hats. Sigh.

More Mil-Town

Yes, Milwaukee has a Calatrava! The addition to the art museum was completed in 2001.

Along the Milwaukee River, which feeds into Lake Michigan.

The city looks great when it's warm and sunny.

Thanks to Mike for the photos!

Boat Ride

The whole family, including Shaelin went for a cruise along the Milwaukee River.

The Big Backyard

My parents have a big, beautiful backyard. I tried to capture the beauty of the lawn, but, so far, I've been unsuccessful.

Claremont

Yes, I trekked over to the East Bay two weekends in a row!

Beth and I had salads and white wine at the Claremont hotel and spa.
